Rusty as a NAIL

I went to figure drawing this last Tuesday, the first one I have been to in months and months. We arrived late and missed the warmup session so it was stop, drop and roll out the supplies, grab a spot and go. I wasn't very focused I have to admit. We had been running about that day doing various erands and Echo and I had lunch with Kelly at Tokyo Sushi. I find if my focus isn't on I just do these sort of automatic-robot drawings. It wasn't until my last drawing I felt I was getting warmed up a bit.

We plan on going every week if we can except while traveling this summer.

  1. that bottom one is awesome. Has sort of a Cornwell feel to it.

  4. One man's rust is another man's expertise...

Really nice job, Mike! I don't care what you say, these are fantastic!

(Is that Shana? She's one of the best models I've worked with...)

  6. I think it's still a great idea to keep your hands familiar with shading, skin tones, and anatomical features. It's one of the first things I ever understood about the human figure before I even considered art school.
