The Mixed Bag

This week is the usual mix of drawing, painting and sculpting at school. This skeleton drawing was from my class with Scott Noel this morning, it's in pastel on Reeves BFK paper.
In still life class i started my new drawing this week. I started with this sketch.
Now I'm working on a bigger drawing.
Al Gury gave us a little pep talk on composition in prep for our next painting which we'll start next week.

I started massing in bigger blocks of color this week on the figure, but I'll have to bring it home to finish once it's dry.
In John Horn's class we had our first uninstructed day working from the model, and man, it was a lot of fun.
The best thing about working with clay is if you mess up, it's easy to push it around till you get it right.

Great selection. Everything's coming along nicely. The drawing lokks beautiful. Looking forward to seeing the bust develop. Are you walking around the model and getting views from different angles and distances?

Alan, Thanks, Yes, we move our model stand around the models to get the 3 main views, both sides and front and we try and get pretty close.

Artsy, I am having the time of my life, that is very true. I really love being in school and pushing and growing. It's hard work though, now hard in the same way drawing a storyboard is, but it's hard at times to try and push the rock up Art Mountain.

But if it wasn't hard then it would be no good and i wouldn't be improving.

Though there are days when I do get frustrated with myself.
