FRANK ROBBINS

A friend sent me a link to a new website featuring the fine artwork of Frank Robbinswho is one of my favorite artists and a huge inspiration for me. It's great to finally get to see his paintings and his drawings that he did when he moved to mexico when he retired.

Okay I kind of get him now, but as a kid when he took over my favorite comic...CAPTAIN AMERICA, I hated his stuff with a genuine teenage passion ;)
I still don't think that he was a good fit on superheroes, but his real world stuff was solid and cool in that Canniff-ish way.

Thanks for pointing this out. I love his stuff. Very under-appreciated in general

Thanks for posting this! Wow, what a talented guy. Like Michael Dooney, I didn't like him as a kid. Too different. His stuff was definitely an acquired taste. But now that I'm older, I can't get enough of his work. His art in INVADERS, CAPTAIN AMERICA and MORBIUS THE LIVING VAMPIRE is just gorgeous!

I always dug Robbins, even as a kid, I guess i was in the minority. I think his style was probably a hard fit for fans on certain comics, he was great on batman and the Shadow, but he was just great on everything. he was an artist who could make anything interesting!

What chops those guys had back in the day. He was better than Caniff any day in my book.

I liked Robbin's work but at the same time I would say "Oh no!, not that guy!" when I picked up some of his books. But I really liked "Man from Atlantis", "Human Fly" and "Invaders". I would love to have one of his original pages!
